SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

At Food From The Roots, we believe in connecting people and cultures through food, whilst also keeping our planet in mind. Throughout the making of our product sustainability was always kept in mind, as we wanted our company to promote the idea that sustainability can be maintained when cooking. Our mission is to inspire, educate, and help our buyers make more sustainable decisions whilst also reducing waste, learning about other cultures, and supporting local businesses.

OUR COMMITMENTS

Promote Sustainable cooking:

One of our core values is promoting sustainable cooking. We encourage the use of locally sourced ingredients, which not only enhances freshness but also reduces food miles and the environmental impact associated with transportation.  We are proud to champion sustainability through various meaningful actions, including supporting local shops, minimizing carbon footprints by using a nearby printing company, and raising awareness through our book Ethnic Eats and our social media platforms.

Working with our sponsors:

We wanted our product to help bring communities together and give opportunities for our customers to have a taste of the recipes before making them. We decided to partner with local businesses and restaurants in order to do this. By doing this, it supports the idea of buying locally, whilst also honouring the heritage that many of these dishes come from. By featuring and supporting local businesses in our book, we aim to boost their visibility and profitability, while also reducing carbon emissions. Each business we support is listed with contact details and addresses in the book to make them easily accessible to our readers.

Eco friendly production:

In keeping with our sustainability mission, we chose the closest available printing company “Mixam” to produce our book. Mixam shares our values and has a strong sustainability strategy, including the use of recyclable paper and eco-conscious production processes. Not only are our products well made and high quality, but they can also be recycled once the metal binding is removed.

Educating others about the impacts of food waste:

We've dedicated an entire page in Ethnic Eats to sustainable living, offering practical tips such as repurposing leftovers and reducing kitchen waste. Additionally, the high quality of our book ensures durability, encouraging long-term use and reuse. Once the book reaches the end of its life, it can be fully recycled, helping reduce deforestation and waste.

Our vision:

Looking ahead, we’re committed to making an even greater impact. A portion of our profits will be donated to a charitable organization to support tree-planting projects, further reinforcing our dedication to environmental stewardship. We want our products to showcase the wide varieties of cultures, and serve as an opportunity to educate others about the world and how we can take care of it now and in the future.
